Har ki dun Ruinsara Tal is just not a trek but a travel into the ancient history and time. Studded in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park of Uttarakhand, this trek not only provides a slow cinematic journey into the heart of chilly enchanting Himalayas but also has various mysteries like sightings of aurora, Rocks near Har ki dun emitting a humming sound when struck and not to forget the pre monsoon wonder where thousands of fire fly’s lighting up forest trails providing trekkers a surreal experience.

Why Har ki dun Ruinsara Tal trek?

Har ki dun valley is a relic of the last Ice Age, the U – shaped valley is a classic example of global erosion, carved millions of years ago! To this day the glaciers of jhumdar and peak Swarga Rohini sustain the valley’s water. 

This trek would be perfect for nature lovers as they encounter over 200 varieties of flora and fauna spread across the valley and not to forget the fresh Himalayan glacial springs.

Har ki dun and Ruinsara Tal exhibit a magical transition of Himalayan landscape thanks to its microclimatic zone, one could transition into glacial icy environment from lush green meadows before they even realize.

This trek is a bird watchers paradise as the valley is home to many endangered species such as Himalayan monalkhalij pheasant and golden eagle and they are frequently spotted too.

Best season to visit: 

May to June: would be ideal for nature lovers as the valley’s vibrant greenery resonates along the valley with thousands of blooming flowers

DAY 1 – DRIVE FROM DEHRADUN TO SANKRI – SIDRI

Distance: 190 KM | Duration: 8 to 9 Hours Altitude: 6,725 feet | 2,050 meters

DAY 2 – DRIVE TO TALUKA, TREK TO PUANI GARAT/ CHILLURGAD
