After months of snowbound isolation, Gangotri National Park has officially reopened for visitors from April 1 , 2026.This is news for people who love trekking going on adventures and exploring nature.
The park is usually closed for six months because of a lot of snow and bad weather. When it opens again it's like a beginning, for those who have been waiting all year to go on their favourite journeys.

Deputy Director Harish Negi announced on Wednesday that the park is now open. He unlocked the Kankhu barrier, which's the main entrance to the Gaumukh trek. At the time officials also opened the entry points to the Nelang Valley and the historic Gartang Gali.
Forest officials like Pradeep Bisht and Rajveer Rawat were present at the ceremony. On the day authorities started giving permits for key routes. Than 100 tourists visited Gartang Gali on the first day. Around 25 tourists explored the Nelang Valley.
Harish Negi said the park is open. Some high-altitude routes, like Gaumukh and Kedartal still have snow. People are working to clear the snow. The Gaumukh route is expected to be fully open before the temple portals open this season. The park is open now. Tourists can visit the Kankhu barrier and the Gaumukh trek.
Key Treks And Attractions Reopen
Gangotri National Park has lots to offer. You can go on high-altitude treks. Visit culturally important sites. The Gaumukh-Tapovan trek is very popular. It is 18 to 22 kilometres long. The park limits the number of people who can enter this trail to 150, per day to protect the environment.
