High above at 5,982 meters sits Hanuman Tibba. This towering summit belongs to the Pir Panjal stretch in Himachal Pradesh. From its slopes, green Kullu Valley spreads out below. Nearby Manali appears within clear view. Moving upward shifts everything - steps become climbs, paths turn into challenges.
Starting off, the trip moves across shifting scenery that grabs attention. Thick woods appear first, unfolding step by step. After that, open mountain clearings stretch ahead under wide skies. Then icy zones come into view, shaped by ancient ice. High up, your base camp sits where air gets thin. As you climb higher, the ground underfoot grows tougher to cross. Snowfields appear. Ice patches show up without warning. Climbing these steep slopes takes skill. This mountain suits those who train hard and move with purpose.
Some folks see Hanuman Tibba as the next smart step for those who trek. Skills grow stronger here, bit by bit. Acclimatization happens the right way, slow and steady. Carrying gear between camps becomes part of each day. Right from the start, experts walk you through every step of the climb. With gear in hand, climbers practice using real mountaineering tools. Moving across icy terrain becomes part of the routine halfway in. By late stages, breathing thins as altitude shapes the journey.
Frostbitten peaks carve a journey no one forgets. Across endless ice fields, your eyes catch what few ever witness. Ridges rise like ancient walls on either side of the trail. From the top, landscapes unfold - Pir Panjal merging into Dhauladhar under silent skies. Up there, the air gets thin on purpose. A journey like this pulls you toward wild heights instead of comfort. Rugged paths meet wide skies along the way. Beauty shows up sharp and sudden, not planned.
Starting at higher ground, Hanuman Tibba suits those stepping beyond trekking into actual climbing. Moving across ice fields comes with route finding through deep cracks in the snow. Equipment such as spikes for feet, safety lines, and mechanical ascenders become part of every move upward. This peak delivers what alpine terrain feels like when you are right in it.
Each morning brings a different world underfoot. Rolling green fields give way to frozen stretches where silence thickens. One step follows another across shifting ground. The path climbs without warning through rocky ribs and open sky. Sunlight hits differently by midday, changing everything. High ridges appear after hours of steady motion. What looked distant now lies beneath your boots.
Above, the sharp ridges of Dhauladhar rise into view, while farther on, Pir Panjal stretches wide under pale light. Snow covers every high slope you can see, rolling beyond one range into another - Greater Himalaya waits ahead like a quiet secret. This is what mountains feel like when they go on forever.
Far from an easy walk, this trail asks for stamina, sharp focus, strong will, yet rewards only those who’ve climbed before. Rising sharply through snow-covered inclines, stretching on during the final hours upward, facing shifts in weather without warning - this path earns its reputation slowly.
Away from the usual routes, Hanuman Tibba draws less crowd because it demands skill. Less traffic brings quieter mornings, raw terrain, real mountain feel.
Starting with tougher mountain goals? Try Hanuman Tibba - it shapes your nerve, sharpens climbing techniques, while getting you used to thin air.

Favorable weather shows up for Hanuman Tibba climb when monsoon ends - think September through October - or just before it begins, like May or June. Success chances rise then because snow stays firm plus skies clear often enough. Conditions align best across those months for anyone moving uphill slowly.
Morning light often brings calm during this stretch. Covered in thick snow, the peak draws many climbers here. Stability underfoot tends to hold through early hours, which helps when aiming high. Glacier crossings feel real, just like old-school alpine routes. Few times of year offer such reliable cold-season patterns.
Once the rains fade, mountains stand out like they’ve been cleaned overnight. Clear days stretch ahead, thanks to steadier winds and cooler breaths of air. Snow lingers, though not as deep as in June, making footing a bit easier when the path climbs high. Views go on forever under wide-open ceilings of blue that show no hurry to change.
Fewer clouds hang over the peaks at these times, making views sharper. Avalanche danger drops when weather settles into a steady pattern. Routes stay firmer underfoot due to consistent conditions. Success rates rise because climbers face fewer surprises high up. Safety improves without removing the raw difficulty that draws people here. Toughness remains even when nature cooperates more than usual.
If you have done multiple high altitude treks, this expedition is a natural progression. You should be comfortable with long trekking days and steep ascents. Unpredictable mountain weather is a factor here. This trip pushes you into technical climbing. You will learn glacier movement. It involves rope work. This is perfect for those ready to move beyond standard trekking.
Hanuman Tibba is an excellent entry point into mountaineering. The climb is challenging but provides a structured environment. You will learn essential skills like using crampons. You will practice with ice axes. The team teaches basic rope techniques. Proper guidance makes this a safe first summit experience. It is a rewarding way to start climbing.
This expedition serves as an ideal training ground for bigger peaks. It introduces you to real expedition style climbing. You will participate in load ferrying. The schedule includes acclimatization cycles. You will practice high altitude decision making. This builds the technical ability needed for 6000m climbs. It also develops mental resilience.
Participants should have completed at least one trek above 5000 meters. A certified basic mountaineering course is also a good prerequisite. This ensures your body is familiar with altitude. You should already understand endurance and pacing. Acclimatization is a critical factor for a safe climb. Prior experience helps ensure a successful trip.
This is an expedition rather than just a trek. You need a strong fitness base. Stamina and strength are required. You must be able to carry a backpack for multiple days. Mental toughness is equally important. Conditions can change quickly on the mountain. This requires patience and adaptability. Determination is key to reaching the top.
The base for the Hanuman Tibba expedition is Manali, a popular hill town that serves as the starting point for many Himalayan expeditions. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide so your audience clearly understands how to get there:
Step 1: Reach Delhi or Chandigarh (Major Entry Points)
Most travelers first arrive in New Delhi or Chandigarh, as both cities are well connected by flights, trains, and buses from across India.
Step 2: Travel to Manali by Road
From Delhi or Chandigarh, Manali is best reached by road:
From Delhi: ~12–14 hours (overnight journey)
From Chandigarh: ~7–9 hours
You can choose:
Volvo or private buses (comfortable and budget-friendly)
Private taxi (more flexible, faster, and scenic)
Self-drive (great option if you enjoy mountain roads)
The journey itself is beautiful, especially once you enter Himachal—expect rivers, valleys, and mountain views all along.
Step 3: Optional – Reach by Air (Nearest Airport)
The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport, about 50 km from Manali.
From there, you can take a taxi to Manali (approx. 1.5–2 hours drive).
Flights are limited, so road travel is usually more reliable.
Step 4: Reporting in Manali (Base Point)
Once you reach Manali, you’ll report to your trek/expedition organizer.
This is where:
Final briefings happen
Gear check is done
Team meets and preparations begin
Step 5: Drive to Trek Starting Point (Sethan Village)
From Manali, a short drive (~1 hour) takes you to Sethan Village, the actual starting point of the expedition.
From here, your trekking and climbing journey begins.
Guest house stay at Gangotri on Day 1 and Day 19 (triple/quad sharing basis).
High-quality camping arrangements from Day 2 to Day 19 during the expedition period.
2. Meals (Vegetarian)
Nutritious vegetarian meals starting from Shimla and continuing until return to Shimla.
Dinner on Day 1 through included.
Freshly prepared meals at base camp and higher camps.
3. Expedition Support Team

Adequate support staff for smooth expedition operations.
4. Camping & Technical Equipment

7. Additional Services
Cloakroom facility at Base Camp.

All necessary permits and entry fees (applicable for Indian nationals up to standard charges).
Complete expedition services from Dehradun to Dehradun.

Since Reo Purgyil lies close to the Indo-Tibet border in Himachal Pradesh, climbers must obtain special permits to enter the region. The expedition cost usually includes forest permits, inner line permits, and other local government permissions required for climbing in the Zanskar Range.
Logistical support is another major part of the expedition. This typically includes transportation from the starting point of the journey to the base village, arrangement of porters or pack animals for carrying equipment, and the setup of base camp and higher camps during the climb.
What Is Not Included
Personal insurance (mandatory for all participants).
Meals during transit.
Personal expenses of any nature.
Porter or mule services for carrying personal luggage.
Emergency evacuation, hospitalization, or rescue expenses.
Any service not specifically mentioned under the “Inclusions” section.
Optional Add-On Services (Available on Request)
These can be arranged on prior request and subject to availability. Additional charges apply.
A satellite-based communication device that works in remote regions where regular mobile networks are unavailable.
A portable chamber used for the emergency treatment of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and high-altitude complications.
A portable device used to respond to sudden cardiac arrest by delivering a controlled electric shock to restore heart rhythm.
Hanuman Tibba stands at an elevation of ~5,982 meters (19,626 ft). It is considered a moderate to difficult level mountaineering expedition. The climb involves glacier travel, steep snow slopes, and basic technical sections, making it more challenging than regular high-altitude treks.
Yes, prior experience is highly recommended. Ideally, you should have:
Completed at least one 5000m+ high-altitude trek
OR done a Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC)
This ensures you are familiar with altitude, endurance, and mountain conditions.
It is suitable for beginner mountaineers, but not for absolute beginners. If you’re transitioning from trekking to mountaineering, this expedition is a great first step into technical climbing and glacier expeditions.
Basic mountaineering skills are needed, such as:
Walking with crampons
Using an ice axe
Basic rope techniques
Understanding glacier safety
Don’t worry—most expedition teams provide training during the initial days.
The ideal months are:
May to June (Pre-monsoon)
September to October (Post-monsoon)
These windows offer more stable weather and better summit chances.
The expedition typically takes 10 to 14 days, including:
Acclimatization days
Load ferry rotations
Summit push
Duration may vary depending on weather and team pace.
The journey begins from Manali, which acts as the base location. From there, participants move towards the trek starting point and further camps.
You should have a good fitness level, including:
Ability to trek 6–8 hours daily
Strong stamina and leg strength
Good cardiovascular endurance
Preparation should include running, strength training, and long hikes.
During the expedition:
In Manali: Hotels/guesthouses
On trek: Tented camps
You’ll be staying in camps throughout the high-altitude phase.
Key challenges include:
High altitude and risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)
Glacier crossings
Steep summit push
Sudden weather changes
Mental strength is as important as physical fitness.
You’ll need both personal trekking gear and technical mountaineering equipment, such as:
Crampons, ice axe, helmet
Down jacket, thermals, gloves
High-ankle trekking boots
Most technical gear is usually provided by the expedition organizer.
Yes, like any high-altitude Himalayan expedition, there are risks such as:
Altitude sickness
Weather changes
Slippery snow and ice terrain
However, with proper guidance, acclimatization, and safety protocols, risks are well managed.
Summit success depends on:
Weather conditions
Team fitness
Acclimatization
On average, well-prepared teams have a good success rate, but flexibility is key in the mountains.
You may get network in Manali, but after that, connectivity is very limited or unavailable. It’s best to inform family in advance.
Hanuman Tibba offers a perfect blend of trekking and mountaineering:
Stunning views of Dhauladhar & Pir Panjal ranges

Completing the Kedarkantha trek at an altitude of around 12,500 feet was not just a trek for us, it was a life-long memory, and a major reason for this unforgettable experience is our guide Shubhod Sir. From the very first day till the summit, Shubhod Sir guided us with immense patience, discipline, and genuine care. At every difficult patch, when our legs were tired and breathing became hard, his calm words, constant motivation, and confident leadership gave us the strength to keep moving forward. He never rushed anyone and always made sure that every member of the group was safe, comfortable, and mentally strong. Shubhod Sir’s knowledge of the mountains, weather, and high-altitude conditions was truly impressive. More than a guide, he felt like a protector and mentor who treated everyone like family. His positive attitude and humble nature created a sense of trust and confidence among all of us. We are also thankful to Atidhi Madam for her support and cooperation during the trek, which added to the smooth experience. Because of Shubhod Sir’s guidance and dedication, we successfully reached the summit with confidence and joy. We will always remember this trek with gratitude and respect. Truly blessed to have a guide like him. 🙏⛰️

Completed the Gaumukh–Tapovan trek with Thin Air Expedition, and it was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. Instead of opting for a fixed-departure model, we chose a personally curated itinerary, as this was our first trek—and it turned out to be the perfect decision. The team was extremely thoughtful in planning each day’s distance, ensuring we were comfortably challenged without ever feeling overtired or exhausted upon reaching the campsites. Every campsite was carefully selected, offering not just safety and comfort but also breathtaking views that made each halt truly memorable. What stood out most was the level of personalization. The itinerary was clearly tailored to our pace and comfort, and the trek leader constantly shared insightful facts about the region, its geography, and cultural significance, adding depth and meaning to the journey. Overall, Thin Air Expedition delivers a highly personalized, well-paced, and enriching trekking experience. I would highly recommend them, especially for first-time trekkers looking for a safe, informative, and thoughtfully curated adventure.Sen

I recently went on a trek with Thin Air Expeditions, and I can't get over the experience I had! I did the Phulara Ridge trek with Subodh sir, and it was an incredible experience. What made it even more special was that Subodh sir made sure I could bring my dog, Flake, a toy pom. His team and him took such great care of us, and it was clear that they truly care about their guests, human or canine! The group was amazing too. I met some wonderful people along the way, and we formed lifelong bonds. The whole experience was beautiful – from the breathtaking views to the friendly, supportive environment. I’ll cherish these memories forever! If you're looking for a SAFE, well-organized, fun, and caring trekking company, Thin Air Expeditions and Subodh sir are the ones to go with!

Phulara Ridge Trek – A Memorable Experience for me !!! Someone once told me, “Trips aren’t just about travel — they become a part of you.” I never really believed it, but this time, Phulara Ridge became exactly that for me. Our first campsite — the forest trail, the tents, the whole setting — gave me the first taste of what was to come. Everything was so thoughtfully arranged, it felt like nature itself had prepared that space for us. All thanks to our trek leader, Subodh bhai 🙌🏻. The next stop was magical in its own way. The campsite was picture-perfect, and we even ended up learning a bit of the local Uttarakhandi dance from Dev bhaiya (well… I tried to! 😄). In the evenings, we played games and spent such a good time that we forgot the weight of city life for a while. And finally, the Ridge: Honestly, we thought the weather would block the views, but Subodh bhai timed it so perfectly that the skies cleared for us. Walking on the ridge — one valley on the right, another on the left, clouds passing beneath us — felt surreal. We sat there for hours, just soaking it all in. It was pure peace. And yes, we even made tea there!!! 🫶🏻 (Of course, we made no mess, cleaned it all up, and left the space exactly the way it should be 😌). For me personally, trekking has always been like meditation — a way to quiet the noise and reconnect with myself. This trek with Subodh bhai and the team gave me exactly that: peace, perspective, memories for a lifetime, and inspiration. #SoGrateful 🙏🏻 Thank you, Subodh bhai and team, for making this such a soulful and unforgettable journey! Lastly Just one note for all: “In the end, we don’t conquer mountains; they help us discover who we truly are.” To anyone even considering it: please go with #ThinAir Expeditions to experience the rawness of trekking, the beauty of nature, and the joy of escaping city life for a while. You’ll come back not just with pictures, but with stories, stillness, and a piece of the mountains in your heart. All the best !!! ✌🏻

It was a wonderful experience with ThinAir Expedition. I went on my first trek to Phulara Ridge, and it was truly amazing. Our guide, Subodh ji, managed everything so well and remained patient throughout the trek. I enjoyed every moment and every spot. The place, the cook, and the helpers were all wonderful. The food and camps were awesome. I highly recommend joining ThinAir Expedition to experience the best of “pahadi” life!

Thin Air Expedition gave us the best experience while trekking. Everything was finely arranged and properly taken care of whether it was travel, food. Staff availablity. But the best part was free hand while trekking. Subodh led us beautifully taking in note that everyone reaches the base camp and everyone is doing well. Consulting our next phase keeping in mind the safety and gears. It was collectively very amazing. He gave us full free hand additionally it is our responsibility as well to take care of each other. We did so many activities had games and fun and he even taught us how to camp. How to set up it was fun. If it would've given me option I'll rate it 10. Thanks subodh and team and thin air expedition for such a memorable trip.

I recently did the Phulara Ridge Trek with Thin Air Expedition, and it was my first trek ever truly an unforgettable experience! Everything was so well managed from safety arrangements and equipment to food and stay, I never had to worry about a thing. Our trek leader, Subodh, was extremely supportive, patient, and motivating, which made a huge difference for a first-timer like me. The food was simple, homely, and very satisfying after long trekking hours. Most importantly, safety was always the top priority. For anyone planning their first or next trek, I’d highly recommend Thin Air Expedition. Professional, caring, and passionate about making the experience memorable!
We're always ready for adventure
Trekking comes with uncertainty. Weather, terrain, and setbacks are part of the journey. We embrace them with resilience and openness—each challenge makes us stronger and more appreciative of nature's beauty.
We embrace low-noise trekking
We blend into nature, not the other way around. We avoid shouting, loud music, and noisy games. In silence, we hear birdsong, streams, and the wind—inviting peace, reflection, and a deeper connection with nature.
We protect the environment
We protect the environment by minimising waste, reusing resources, and picking up litter. We carry eco-bags, segregate waste, and inspire others to preserve trails. Sustainable trekking ensures these mountains remain beautiful for future generations.
We are self-sufficient
We carry our load as much as possible, manage our gear, and stay prepared for all situations. Self-sufficiency builds confidence, independence, and respect for fellow trekkers, support staff, and the trail itself.
We support each other
Trekking is not a solo act. We wait for each other, share burdens, and uplift teammates. By putting the group first, we build strong bonds and help everyone complete the trek joyfully.
We are fit and prepared
We train well before our treks. This helps us walk longer, handle emergencies, and contribute to the team. Fitness ensures we are never a burden and always ready to help when needed.
